Quartz Timer V2

Stop tap dancing

Syncing your pedals is about to get a whole lot easier!
Whether your pedal accepts a Normally Open tap signal, Normally Closed tap signal, TRS tap configuration, MIDI Clock, or needs a custom Midi Message sent every quarter note, the Quartz Timer can sync them to a specified BPM.

Name each of your songs (or parts of songs) with up to 30 characters per name, and set a colour for them.

It is also a powerful Midi Controller, sending Program Changes, Control Changes, or any other MIDI message you’d like. Not only can it generate these signals, but can receive MIDI Clock and MIDI Program Changes, at the same time passing any other Midi Messages through, enabling it to fit in with your favourite MIDI Controller (if you'd still like to keep it). Each preset can send up to 20 custom midi messages, so you aren't stuck with pre-defined MIDI functions set by the manufacturer.

Plug an external footswitch into the Quartz and make it even easier to control on the fly. With 2 footswitches you get 4 functions at your toe-tips and you can choose what these functions are. So if you don't like what the footswitches do, change them!

It can also translate a standard metronome audio signal into a BPM that it can use to generate Midi and Tap signals.

The Quartz V2 is easy to customise and powerful when you do. Download the computer interface software here and start setting up your setlist!

The Quartz Timer V2 is an awesome piece of gear. The build quality and finish is exceptional – when you open up the pedal the attention to detail is clear to see. It’s stunning to look at too, loving the white sparkle finish.
All the hidden features are superb, they really have thought of pretty much everything and so much energy has obviously been poured into it – from tap division per output per preset, bpm offset (which enabled me to accurately sync my nova delay), custom midi messages, external foot switch control, set list mode. I can tell this has been designed for musicians.

The software is genius – extremely easy to use and it’s so fast to program everything in. It is so good that you can actually set the pedal up blind – I had the Quartz configured and my whole song library sorted before I’d even held it in my own hands, as soon as it was delivered to me in the UK I plugged the Quartz in via USB and loaded everything onto it in under a minute.

I do most of my MD prep away from my pedalboard – I can have different Live Sets saved on my mac to load up during soundcheck.
The software also enables me to configure my Strymon gear and programme all of my saved sounds, without even touching the pedal. It’s pretty awesome. Each Quartz preset stores these settings, so I can instantly recall my time based effects with one press of a switch – no more scrolling through banks or forgetting which one to go to.

Song transitions used to be stressful, but with the Quartz life is easy.

Possibly the best pedal on my Rig!

The Midi control capability of this piece of equipment is superb. Not only does it send out a Program Change (including Bank Change on CC#0, if you choose) but you can also send out 20 Custom Messages including Note, Control Change or Program Change on any channel per program change AND use the external footswitch (not supplied but confirmed compatible with a Boss FS–5u) to send out another 20 per preset. This makes the Quartz the ONLY midi controller you need on a small pedal board.

The other feature I immediately fell in love with is the set-list function which takes moments to program on the pedal face and even less time using the Application via USB. This allows me to cycle through my songs on a sunday morning without even thinking and if I need to go back a quick twist of the top left dial gets me back to the right song.

If you fall out of time because the band has skipped a beat, simply press the footswitch on beat #1 and the programmed tempo will begin from beat 1 immediately.

I even requested a midi feature to be added and Selah were kind enough to consider it for the next firmware, talk about the lost art of customer service! With the ARM processor under the hood this pedal has much room to grow and I can’t wait to see the next round of features added.

In short, if you play with any MIDI or Tap timed pedals, you simply can not live without a Quartz V2.

First off, my phone is being a little wonky so if you don’t see 5 stars above this, you should cause that’s what I rated it. This pedal is worth all 5 stars if not more. This thing does everything I need it to and everything I wished it was going to do. To piggyback off another review, I suggested a division option to one of the Selah team members and BAM! The newest firmware update included it. Stellar! Their customer service is excellent, even with having the time difference between Austraila and the U.S. Any questions I’ve had they have been quick to help and kept corresponding with me till my question was answered.

Those other companies who offer similar products need to take note and keep trying. They will be hard pressed to even reach the bar set by Selah.

Amazing pedal! Works like a charm. Love the display. Love the software features. I’m using it not only to lock in tempo to my analog delay and tap tremolo but also to change to the first patch in the proper bank on my Disaster Area programmable looper (essentially setting me up with my patches available for that song). One tap (held for a second), and I’m set for the song. It’s exactly what I hoped. Only thing that could even be better is the time to sync with the software, and I expect that might improve over time.

I saw the rating as under 5 stars and was shocked, but then read his review and his phone didn’t let him put 5 stars haha. This pedal is seriously amazing, though. The design is so intuitive and easy to understand. Plus the option to add midi control for so many different controls is incredible. Great job Selah, keep ’em coming!

This is an excellent product in every aspect: the pedal itself, the desktop software and the support. The functionality is designed and implemented by someone who has a great understanding of what features are needed in a compact setup. Very very clever. Apart from the tempo setting functionality, this device has a pretty much advanced MIDI functionality. Currently I have it integrated with Pigtronix Echolution 2 (via MIDI: changing presets, setting tempo), Chase Bliss Audio Tonal Recall (via Empress Modified MIDIBox: setting/changing presets, setting tempo), Malekko Sneak Attack (setting tempo).

Usually I’m just reading reviews but in that case I just have to write one myself – and if it’s only to say Thank You for this amazing piece of gear! 🙂 I was initially looking for a way to clock-sync my Tremolo and Delay and found out about the Quartz V2 being in the making. I immediately ordered one off the first batch and after a few months on my board I couldn’t be happier. I’ve got so much more now than just a global tap device. It controls my presets on the Delay and switches them sometimes even in the middle of songs. It’s easy to set up and even I understand MIDI now. To just name one thing that I really love: The customizable footswitches – Onboard is Tap Tempo and Custom MIDI for me, the external footswitch does the preset switching. Our band is on the edge to start working with In-Ear click and MIDI tracks – well, my board is also ready for that with the Quartz. Thanks guys! 🙂
